Specialty compounder, RTP Company, announced that it has entered into a trademark agreement with Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC, makers of more plastics with more performance than any other supplier in the world. Under the agreement, RTP Company will compound and market precolored Radel® R polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) and Udel® Polysulfone (PSU) resins globally using the Solvay trademarks.
“We are very excited about adding Radel R and Udel precolored resin to our product portfolio,” said Josh Blackmore, Global Market Manager-Healthcare. “The agreement means that customers worldwide who want small and medium sized lots of precolored Radel R PPSU and Udel PSU compounds will be able to get them very quickly from RTP Company, initially in North America and Europe, and in Asia by June of this year.”
“Radel R PPSU is one of the most recognizable brand names in the healthcare industry particularly in orthopedics,” continued Blackmore. “It’s a market that is expected to have strong growth for the foreseeable future in part due to an aging global population. OEMs and processors developing medical devices can select from a palette of 10 standard colors that have been through biocompatibility testing or have RTP Company create a custom matched color. We provide a statement of biocompatibility for products made with these colorants. In addition, we have matched Solvay’s standard colors which can be ordered immediately in quantities as low as 220 pounds.”
Radel R PPSU is an amorphous resin which combines excellent thermal stability, high strength and toughness, excellent hydrolytic stability, transparency and good resistance to environmental stress cracking explained Blackmore.
