In all-polymeric grades, our conductive IDP polymers known as PermaStat® and PermaStat Plus® are alloyed with host resins; for others, conductive particulate or fibers are combined with a base polymer to form a conductive matrix. These materials provide a very slow decay of static charge, from hundredths of to several seconds, preventing accumulations that may be a source of discharge or initiate other nearby electrical events.

Our all-polymeric PermaStat® compounds protect sensitive electronics from the damaging effects of static electricity. These compounds feature a consistent surface resistivity of 1010 to 1011 ohms/sq and are free of carbon black, so they do not crayon or “slough.” Unlike coatings, these properties are inherent to the material and not humidity-dependent for activation or limited by fragility.

Our Static Dissipative Compounds allow for the controlled dissipation or decay of electrical charges at a much faster rate than anti-static materials, generally within milliseconds. Measured resistance is uniform and usually strong.

Materials that offer ideal electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection (106 – 109 Ohms/sq) are at the low end of the static dissipative range. Our CCX Conductive Masterbatches are specially formulated for ESD protection and are available in four distinct additive technologies: Stainless Steel Fiber, Carbon Nanotubes, Carbon Black, and PermaStat® dissipative polymer technology. In addition, you’ll find ESD compounds, including carbon particulate-filled grades, in our ESD-A product line.

Our PermaStat Plus® compounds further expand the usefulness of PermaStat® materials, with surface resistivity as strong as 108 Ohms/sq and are an excellent choice for meeting static protection requirements of the ATEX directive.

These materials offer decay rates measured in nanoseconds — instant enough to provide a ground pathway and bleed off stronger electrical charges.

This level of conductivity is achieved by incorporating carbon fiber, high levels of carbon powder, or other conductive additives, and are available in our ESD-C product line.

Qualified by means other than electrical conductivity, materials of this type are utilized for their ability to absorb or reflect electromagnetic energy and thus provide shielding from or for sources of interference.

These specialty hybrid technologies transfer heat away from sensitive electronic components, and reduce “hot spots” by absorbing and redistributing heat more evenly than unfilled resin. This is accomplished and fine-tuned by combining base resins with a variety of additives. Our Thermally Conductive compounds are an ideal choice for parts that have failed due to corrosion, as these materials have good chemical resistance, and allow for part consolidation and reduced weight versus metals.
