Sustainable Material Solutions
Sustainable Material Solutions
At RTP Company, we recognize that the future depends on building sustainable, repeatable processes. Creating sustainable thermoplastic compounds is both challenging and exciting! We use a variety of material formulation strategies to help our customers reach their carbon footprint reduction initiatives, including:
- providing compounds that include Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) content, such as sustainable nylon products and sustainable polypropylene compounds
- lightweighting parts by using specialty compounds, so less energy is required for part movement
- supporting metal-to-plastic replacements
- formulating with bio-based materials
- replacing materials with lower carbon options (i.e., Short Glass Fiber PA to Very Long Fiber PP)
- partnering with customers and suppliers to provide viable, real-life solutions, as shown in this case study

Our Roots In Recycling
Our parent company, Miller Waste Mills, was founded on the concept of recycling in 1923. The company began recycling discarded fabric by processing it into fibers called “waste”, which was dipped in oil and used for lubricating railcar wheels during the golden age of rail travel.
Today, Miller Waste Mills processes post-industrial and post-consumer fiber and textile waste into reclaimed fiber products that can be re-created into fabric, insulation, stuffing, or filtration media for various consumer, industrial, and automotive applications. Throughout the process, Miller Waste Mills helps divert thousands of pounds of textiles from landfills each year, reclaiming the original fibers that can be reused instead of being thrown away.
This commitment to eco-friendly processes has carried over to RTP Company, as well, which was established under the Miller Waste Mills umbrella in 1982. RTP Company is committed to building on the initiatives started by Miller Waste Mills nearly 100 years ago by developing sustainable material solutions for OEMs and molders around the world.
